Timber Ridge Adult Camp

Timber Ridge will be hosting an “Adult Camp” weekend June 1-3 and September 21-23 this summer. We will be featured in a Groupon promotion starting April 9, but if anyone is interested in attending, contact Timber Ridge via email at trcamps@aol.com for more details. This is a 25 and up event and will feature several camp activities including, but not limited to, SNF under the lights, tennis, canoeing, swimming, basketball, and bonfires/s’mores! I hope everyone had a Holiday Season and New Years. Its hard to believe how long its been since we all left the Mountains of West Virginia, but then how close it is until we all go back. The Baltimore office is a busy place, these days we are getting lots of calls asking about camp and most of this is thanks to our current family’s, alumni, and friends. I had a great time in Florida at the Reunion, it was fun catching up with everyone and it was great to see some of the unexpected visitors. I hope to see even more of my camp family at the Maryland Reunion in a few weeks. I have been extremely busy interviewing a lot of really amazing people to be your counselors next year. Every day I get more and more excited about summer 2012. We have a great bunch of returning staff, and some really cool new people who will be joining us. So everyone stay warm, stay busy, do well in school, and get ready for summer 2012.

Don’t forget about our Baltimore/Washington/Maryland reunion

Jan 29th at Adventure Park USA in New Market, MD. 1-4. It should be pretty cool!

Well, I have been in Baltimore for a month now and couldn’t be happier with the move, new city, and working in the office getting everything ready for camp for 2012! I am so excited for this upcoming summer. We really have a lot of great things planned, are in the process of hiring staff, and as always, talking with new families about camp. It’s a different world working in the office in the off season, but I still get to talk about camp everyday to people who want to hear about it, so life is good. I can’t wait for the reunion in Florida in a couple weeks, hanging out with friends and my second family is going to be great! I hope anyone that can attend will be there to have a fun day of friends, family, and camp memories!

Well, I have been in Baltimore for a few weeks now and figured it was time to blog! First of all, I am lovin’ life! Working with the office team has been great, and I couldn’t have picked a better city to move to. I love it here! I get to see a lot of my old camp friends and it’s like being back in camp, but in a different city. These friendships truly never go away. Currently I am working on staffing and recruiting for the 2012 summer! I know, it seems early, but this is how we get a great staff together. We get to know them early, and we get to know them well before they get to camp. As far as getting new kids to sign up, I have been working every which way possible and have had some success. But as always, I look to the Timber Ridge faithful for help! Anytime a camper, counselor, alumni, or adult staff can help camp by recommending kids for camp, it makes life pretty great around here. So please keep us in mind over the holiday season when you see family and friends.

On a personal note, I am already excited about next summer! I can’t wait to see all of you again and I can’t wait for warm weather, activities, new and old faces, s’mores by the fire, initiation, color war, and more. I seriously love being at camp during the summers, and the off season is always just a countdown to camp! Miss you all, can’t wait to hear from you and see how everything is going!

Reunions

As per Tradition the Florida Reunion will be held at Tradewinds Park, 3600 W Sample Rd Coconut Creek, FL, it will be from 1-3 on December 26th. Join us for some food, fun, sports and games.

The DC Reunion will be held at Adventure Park USA, in New Market, MD on January 29th 2012 from 1-4, for laser tag, great food, rock climbing, and all of your timber ridge friends and family.

We hope to see you at one or both of the Reunions!

Another Week Closer to Camp

I hope everyone had a great week, things in the Timber Ridge office have been very busy. The October Rattler is ready for the press and will begin printing Monday morning! Wally is already planning for an excellent bike program for next year, it will really be nice to have him return. Matt Demko has also signed back on as our Inter Boys Head as well. I don’t know if you know this but JM is in a play in Cumberland Maryland that is going on right now, he is Mushnik in Little Shop of Horrors. Jill and I are planning to drive out Sunday to see him in action. Bill and Bill are nearly ready to lock the gate one last time for the winter, they only have one week left and camp will be fully winterized. Mazel Tov to Jordan Gold for his Bar Mitzvah and Hannah Greenberg for her Bat Mitzvah this weekend, I know they both will do great.

Wally, Tuesday, Ice Cream, and its still October

I hope everyone enjoyed there Holiday and then— Columbus Day…. No Mail, some banks are open some banks are not, the stock market open…. I never got off school tho? Seems like its a good excuse for a sale. I hope everyone enjoyed their Rattler, everybody on our list should have one by now!

We have great news! Wally is coming back to camp next summer after a 3 year hiatus! He will be running our hiking and biking program, for those of you who know Wally, you know that he knows every place to bike and every place to hike within 200 miles of Timber Ridge. He is also pretty darn good at Basketball.

Last Thursday Merek came by the office after school, we had a great time and enjoyed some custard from the Cow, ( don’t tell Uncle Fred) and talked about camp, made us miss it even more. Looks like we should have a great crew of staff returning for next summer, Ill let you know everyone once they return there contracts, or maybe ill just tell you about one person per post and keep some suspense! Hope all is well and make sure to add Murray on facebook!

Does the sun ever shine in Baltimore?

I hope everybody had a good New Year! By now all the campers should have received there Fall Rattler. Alumni we are still working on yours, its a lot folding, stuffing and stamping, but we are almost done! We are really excited to welcome back Seb, most of you probably remember him from the summer’s of 08 and 09. He will be returning for 2012 as the CIT Director! I am sure he will run an awesome program. I am imaging the endless possibility’s of the lake in the future. I can see a blob in the corner, bumper boats, water skiing and tubing, sailing… It never ends! I have always felt like camp was perfect, now with a lake it truly will be. What should we name it? Lake Alex???? Reece Lake??? Welp’ it’s almost time to go home for the day! We survived Monday!
